The Dontay character in Black Will Shoot believes in the Baha’i Faith, an independent world religion whose goal is the unification of all mankind. Baha’is believe that if you strip away all the rituals and social rules of the world’s major religions, they all have the exact same message from God. The only differences are that the message has been delivered by different Manifestations of God (such as Moses, Jesus, Muhammad and Baha’u’llah) at various times in human history, and that each Manifestation delivered the next chapter in a Progressive Revelation tailored to mankind’s needs and capacities at that time time. The principle is similar to teaching a child from birth: your explanations become ever more complex as the child grows older, but the fundamental values behind your teachings remain constant.
